Mary Albon
Consultant and Writer

Mary Albon is an independent consultant and freelance writer with over 20 years of experience in media, higher education and nonprofit management. She works with both corporate and nonprofit clients, including media companies, private equity firms, international organizations, charitable foundations, university-based programs and nonprofit organizations.   

Her services include conducting research and feasibility studies, designing program and strategic plans, writing business documents, conference reports, website content, public relations and marketing materials, and serving as a writing coach for business executives.  

Ms. Albon is co-founder of Knowledge Worker Nation, a peer-to-peer learning network for sole practitioners whose business is their expertise. She is also a research associate at Intelligent Television, a media production, research and consulting company; and a consulting editor for Barnes & Noble Publishing, Inc. She has previously served as manager of international field-based programs and corporate relations at the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College; as associate director of Pubwatch, a nonprofit organization supporting the publishing industries in Eastern & Central Europe and the former Soviet Union; as a program officer at the Foundation for a Civil Society, where she helped found and managed the Project on Justice in Times of Transition; and as publications editor and program officer at the Institute for East-West Security Studies. She has also worked as a public relations consultant in Moscow.   

Ms. Albon has extensive experience collaborating with charitable foundations and cultural education institutions, and she has designed and implemented a wide array of high-level international conferences and programs focused on media, civil society and transitional justice in Eastern & Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, Central America and Northern Ireland. She has published on international relations, transitional justice and Russian literature. An avid traveler, she has also written travel pieces for Travel + Leisure magazine and other publications. Ms. Albon is a graduate of Harvard University and Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
